Frequently Asked Questions about Partnering with Abraxas
Education Group
- How does Abraxas Education Group initiate relationships
and contracts with school districts?
Abraxas Education Group has several means of connecting with school
districts to provide alternative education services. Often,
word of mouth referrals lead school district personnel to contact
our company for information on services. In addition, our
team actively seeks regional and national conferences to share
our program information and encourage new program development. Abraxas
Education Group development team members will travel to various
locations upon request to discuss our services and possible program
arrangements. For
more information on contracting with Abraxas Education Group, refer
to Contact Us.
- Will Abraxas Education Group work with our district to
customize services?
Each program is able to work independently with a core group of
services. These services can be modified to some extent to
allow for each district’s specific needs and operational expectations. All
contracts include a clear expectation of services to be provided
and the partnership provisions of both Abraxas Education Group
and the contracting district.
- What population of students does Abraxas Education Group
serve?
In most cases, our services are for a specific population of disruptive
students that have been unsuccessful in their home schools for
a variety of reasons including truancy, behavior incidents, suspensions
and expulsions. Our focus is to provide these services to
both regular education and special needs/special education students.
- Is Abraxas Education Group part of any other provider
organization?
Yes, Abraxas Education Group is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cornell
Companies, Inc. based in Houston, Texas.
- How successful has Abraxas Education Group been in serving
students?
Our primary focus is to improve student attendance and to provide
them with an educational experience that enhances their ability
to achieve improvement in school performance. We seek to transition
our students back to their home school as soon as they are prepared,
ready and confident in their ability to be successful. Over
the past several years we have successfully transitioned hundreds
of students.
- What are some of the
positive results that the Abraxas Education Group programs
have achieved?
Our programs have successfully demonstrated student success in
various areas over the years. Please Contact
Us for further information.
- What makes Abraxas Education Group successful in assisting
students?
Our success is primarily a function of the school environment
we create through our program approach and philosophy. We provide
small classroom sizes, allowing more adult/teacher contact with students
than traditional education environments. Our programs also
work closely with each student on an individual basis, extending
to more than academic performance. We provide our students
with a positive, effective social environment and engage them in
their own personal development. They receive individual coaching
and training on how to effectively deal with personal stress and
decision making. Students are treated with respect and are
encouraged to learn the importance of basic social responsibility
relative to themselves and their interactions with peers. We
approach each student from a holistic perspective, and the result
is a more effective, safe and successful school environment where
a student can feel personal accomplishment and achieve success.
